Basic dog training programs that are offered are designed to meet the needs of the dog owner who wants a well mannered, responsive dog. The philosophy of Vom Willemstad K-9 Academy is that every dog deserves to be trained and that training strengthens the bond between owner and canine companion, expanding their mutual respect and trust. We achieve this by using the Motivational Method in our dog training programs. The Motivational Method is a proven approach to training developed more than 20 years ago. The techniques are simple and equally effective with puppies, adolescent, adult, and even problem dogs. Recongnizing that clear communication between dog and owner is crucial to successful training, great emphasis is placed on training the owner. With careful attention to canine and human psychology, the owner comes to understand how his dog learns. These methods in our training sessions are an orderly, systematic approach to training that uses success and positive reinforcement to build an understanding and confidence for both the dog and owner. With the ultimate goal of having a happy and reliable dog who is motivated to respond.
