What is The Motivational Method ? The Motivational Method is a proven approach to training developed more than 25 years ago. The techniques are simple and equally effective with puppies, adolescent, adult, and even problem dogs. It is an orderly, systematic approach to training that uses success and positive reinforcement to build an understanding and confidence for both the dog and owner. With the ultimate goal of having a happy and reliable dog who is motivated to respond.

Rather than using coercive methods to achieve results, the Motivational Method is built upon a foundation and knowledge of basic canine and human Psychology. Coercive methods used by other trainers tend to achieve short term results and motivate a dog out of fear and build resentment in a pet. To paraphrase an old saying, "You get more with honey, than you do with Vinegar". The dog is thus encouraged in a positive way through rewards and kindness to participate in the training because he "wants to" rather than because he must. The method has been used succesfully in Hollywood to train some of the major canine stars as well as other animals.

The Motivational Method recognizes that clear communication between dog and owner is crucial to successful training, great emphasis is placed on training the owner. With careful attention to the foundations of psychology, the owner comes to understand how his dog learns. The methods in our training sessions are an orderly, systematic approach to training that uses success and positive reinforcement to build an understanding and confidence for both the dog and owner. Once the owner understands how to comunicate with his pet he can then elicit a positive response from his pet and have a more fruitfull relationship with his dog.
